MY BASKETBALL MSSD EXPERIENCE

We have been training for this competition for months, although i could not make it to some of the practices, i always practice on my own during my free time. The under 18 team of SMK Damansara Jaya, also known as DJHB, is made up of skilled players who are both hard-working and full of spirit.

It was difficult to forget and move on, when we finally accepted the fact that we lost by 11 points and was out on the quarter finals. It shattered some of my teammates' hearts and they broke down into tears. I didn't get a chance to showcase my ability or skills as i have been missing out on some team trainings, so it was harsh when i knew that i couldn't do anything to help the team win. However, my teammates were able to pull it off and brought home a triple win.

All of the above was pretty much how i felt after the quarter finals where we met our match. With the sad things aside, I'm going to talk about what i enjoy when i participate in MSSD. Firstly, I get to meet my old friends who were in my peer group in elementary school. It was the only time we get to talk face to face as we are never free on the same day. Moreover, I also get to meet new people from different schools and enjoy the delicious food that the canteen of SMK BU3 sells.

Hopefully I get to lead my team into victory in the MSSD competition next year...

The Power Of Information

THE POWER OF INFORMATION

Recently, my english teacher, Miss Monica, gave an article to read on which is titled 'The Boys Who Fought The Nazis'. It is an interesting article about three german boys who helped spread awareness and the truth about the war during World War II.

The Nazis kept the German people in the dark about the war while Hitler was sending the Germans into battles they couldn't win. Moreover, the Nazis founded the Nazi club boys called Jungvolk, or 'Young Folk' in 1936 and the league of German girls to train them to become soldiers, shaping their beliefs since young. The three boys realised the truth when one of the boys, Helmuth showed them a shortwave radio he has and they then began typing up leaflets to show the German people.

With these information about the war, the German people could help in the resistance of the Nazis and even stop the war from within. This shows us the power of information that can stop wars or change the tides of how the war will end.

What I Did After PT3

A heavy weight lifted off my shoulders after the final exam and all I could think about was how I was going to spend my holidays. Instead of going abroad, I decided that I will stay in Taiping, Perak for a week with my grandparents and help out in their palm oil plantation.

The place where they lived was not very developed and there is not much traffic, so there is fresh air and less exhaust fumes. Moreover, the food in Taiping is delicious and it was easy to adapt to their lifestyle even though we had to wake up early in the morning. It was late at night on Christmas when i arrived and unfortunately, I could not celebrate with my relatives who lives nearby my grandparents' house.

The next day was the time of the harvest, and I was thrilled as it was my first time in the palm oil plantation. When we arrived at our destination, the workers came to welcome us. They all seemed friendly except one who was an annoying person, always asking my grandfather for a raise. Once he was begging my grandfather to give him a raise and not leaving him alone, so I stepped in. It wasn't a smart thing to do but I just did it anyway. I tried not to start a fight with him as it is the last thing I would want and it would just start a vicious circle so I just glared at him as a sign that I'm furious at him, if looks could kill, he would be dead. After listening to him talking about how hardworking he is for 5 minutes, he finally gave up and walked back to his shed. The entire 5 minutes was just me thinking about what to do if he started a fight and I couldn't come up with anything as this type of stuff never happens to me. Fortunately, nothing happened but my leg was still trembling.

After 3 hours and several ant-bites, the harvest was over and we went home. After that, there was nothing for me to do other than cleaning up the backyard of my grandparents' home, so i just watch anime during my free time. This trip was worth it and I was glad i could spend more time with my grandparents.
